Hi Anne,

I had to send you an email to tell you that the class last night saved Cassie's life today. (She's the little rat terrier/chihuahua mix that was a little timid last night). I was taking her and my other dog out for a walk this afternoon when her lease broke. (I didn't realize that she had chewed on it and it was only holding together by a small section). She started running down the road away from me. At first I was running after her, calling her name, and of course she just kept running faster and faster away from me. She was starting to get close to High Street (we live right down the street from Paws for Praise) when I remembered that last night you said to NEVER chase your dog when they're running away. I knelt down and called her name. She stopped, looked at me, and stood still. I kept calling her in an excited voice and telling her, "let's go home and get a dog biscuit" and she started walking towards me. She got fairly close and I was able to approach her and grab what was left of her leash. I took her home a gave her a dog biscuit. I'm so proud of her!

I hate to think of what might have happened if you had not shown us about recall last night. I feel very, very thankful and very lucky that this happened AFTER the class instead of before it.

Anne is amazing! Truly wise and empathetic, about people as well as dogs. I called Paws For Praise to schedule a dog behavior consultation, expecting to leave a voicemail. I adopted a puppy from Northeast Animal Shelter in May of 2010. I was looking for a positive training class for my puppy. After speaking with my vet and doing some research I chose PAWS FOR PRAISE. I loved the class. The instructor, ANNE, certainly knows her stuff. Roxy was a fast learner, the class was fun and we made some new friends. Paws For Praise also has a group on Sunday afternoons for students past and present to bring their dogs to play and socialize. It is called Yappy Hour. I can't say enough about Anne Springer and Paws for Praise. Anne really knows her dogs and she is "right on" with her positive training methods. She is a great observer of what your dog needs and wants, and then will teach you what you need to know! She turned my Golden Retriever "Skye" into a Star ... and he just recently passed his Therapy Dog Test ... Anne is definitely a "Star" in my book!!!
